We are headed to the pediatrician tomorrow to talk more about Wallace’s recurrent febrile seizures.
Here’s a brief synopsis of our experience so far:
Wallace had his first febrile seizure on December 26, 2018, 5 days after he turned 2. It was the most terrifying moment of my life, and everyone in our family- my husband and my kids and I- we all thought he was dying.
You can read the detailed version of exactly what happened here- Nothing Prepared Me For My 2 Year Old’s Febrile Seizure.
Since then, he’s gone on to have 4 more seizures, each also accompanying a fever and a virus. He recovers quickly most of the time, but the last seizure was what we believe to be a complex seizure, and may spark his pediatrician to order an EEG for him. It was about 35-40 minutes in total.
We have no reason to believe this is anything other than “just” febrile seizures, but of course we want to be sure we’re testing for everything to be sure. I’ll be back with an update as soon as I have more details to share.
