I think we forget that older kids still know how to play (not talking video games).
I think we forget they are still eager to flex their imaginations, to make believe.
The arrival of one-very-special-toy/piece-of-furniture/walls-of-a-fort reminded me of all of this over the last couple weeks. We are now the proud owners of a Nugget play couch in it’s newest color- beanstalk.
The beanstalk Nugget launched TODAY! Be sure you read to the end of the post to see how you can win one!
Remember when I blogged about how rad I thought this concept was and how bummed I was that it wasn’t around earlier, when my older kids were babies/toddlers? The Nugget team saw that post after someone sent it their way (thank you!) and reached out to see if I would help them launch their next color! And boy is it GORGEOUS.
Turns out, you don’t have to be a baby or toddler to LOVE the Nugget. From the minute we unrolled this glorious green play couch, all 4 of the kids have played with it, chilled on it, slept on it, and- of course- fought over it.
Kendall, my 11-year-old, was the first to request his own for his room for Christmas. Leyna (8.5) jumped in and agreed she would also like a purple one for her room. Lowell now insists Wallace needs his own, too.
This one showed up on Lowell’s birthday, so there’s really no telling him it’s not his.
Although Wallace was the one I had in mind using this the most for his Danger Baby antics, it’s the older kids who have really put it to the test, turning it into thrones…
and beds…
and, okay, also a soft place to play video games.
Let’s talk cost.
One Nugget is $229 (shipping is free within the contiguous US states), but you can save by ordering more than one. You get a $25 discount for each one you add to your cart. A commenter on FB shared that she and her neighbors came together to place a large order and saved a lot that way.
Also, consider that this isn’t just a toy, it isn’t just a cheap fold out foam couch, and it’s much more functional than those pricey foam chairs many of us buy our kiddos as toddlers. The Nugget has staying power. I’m confident that you will get so much use out of it for years to come. And if the washable cover gets too gross, or the color doesn’t fit with your decor anymore, you can purchase new covers for $99.
So, yes, it’s an investment, but I think it’s a wise one! This endorsement coming from the gal who is trying to embrace minimalism and also seriously considering buying 3 more for Christmas.
Hit me up with any questions in the comments! We have been using the heck out of this thing daily for 2 weeks and it’s been SO HARD not to share!

So, if you only had Kendall and Leyna, would it still be worth it? Trying to decide if C and D are too old at 11 and 7. But Denver is a wild man and would probably enjoy…

My 4 year old and sensory/spectrum 2 year old would LOVE this!!!! So cool! 😍
Hey Jill,
When you don’t throw the covers in the wash, what have you used (successfully) for spot cleaning?
So far we’ve just used a damp cloth. Our cover is obviously pretty dark so it can camouflage any dark messes.
Love this! Thanks for hosting this giveaway, I hope I entered correctly. It kept erroring to a blank question box, but now says I have 5 entries. 🤷 Your amazing Jill!
Good luck!
Would love to win for my 9, 7, 2, and 1 year old girls!!

Hey Jill,
I’ve got two boys in the autism spectrum, 3 and 6 years old. For years we have used foam bean bags to give them some sensory input. Lately they’ve been pulling the cushions off my brand new, very expensive couch. They build forts with them, which is why I think the nugget would be a good fit here. I’m just wondering if they could take a beating being jumped on constantly. It’s a big price tag and I’d want to make sure it lasts.
