Man, it’s so weird to be one foot out of this baby trench for the first time in over 11 years. One day I need to blog about how different parenting my first and my fourth have been, not just because I’m older and wiser and care a whole lot less about trivial things as a parent to my 4th baby, but because they are actually 2 different generations- Kendall and Wallace.
I remember when Kendall started crawling, we lived in a 2100 sq. foot sparsely furnished home. We had an entire “playroom” that was pretty much empty, and I thought it would be perfect for him if I could put some kind of crawling and climbing thing in there- like the soft cushions and tunnels they had at Gymboree, where we went every week for classes.
I looked online, on Craigslist, and all I could ever find were the real deal- the things that were actually made for Gymboree and for daycares. They were WAY expensive (I want to say at least $500) and super freaking primary color ugly, and very singular in purpose.
Flash forward a decade, and someone told me about The Nugget, and I was MAD when I looked them up late last year because:
1. WHERE HAS THIS BEEN FOR ALL MY BABIES?
2. WE HAVE NO SPACE FOR THIS IN THE RV!!Image via NuggetComfort.com
But it’s so perfect and it’s absolutely on my must have list for a new house. Like, I’ll probably go ahead and get two. Maybe three! Because we’ll have to put one under the climbing wall that we will have to install for Danger Baby.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do that? Like best practices and where to buy the… what do you call them.. the rocks for the wall… the footholds?? I don’t know. Do you?
I wish we would have had one of these Nuggets in our room in our last house. Maybe we could have convinced one fewer kid to climb in bed with us.
Anyway, this is not meant to be an advertisement for these people. It’s not sponsored and I’ve never actually seen one of these in person, but I’m so in love with the idea of these open-ended soft play pillows that are actually not ugly.
And first-time-mom me would have been delighted to have these, so I’m going to treat myself…. er, my kids.
(As soon as we get into a house because, sadly, these would take up all the floor space in the RV.)

I always love your product recommendations. This comes at the most perfect time! I have also been looking for cushions/mats for the family room and even considered buying the expensive gym mats instead of a new sofa. I just ordered The Nugget! I cannot wait to get it! Thanks for sharing!!!
That’s fantastic! Let me know how you like it! What color did you get?
I hadn’t even seen this post until just now – my son turned 6 on June 30th and I bought him the nugget (blue) for his birthday…lets just say, I WISH I would’ve bought this years ago when I saw it, we just didn’t have the space also because of moving around. The whole family loves it! Its become a fort and a great napping place, a lazy, movie-watching couch, a slide…possibilities really are endless.
I know you guys are JUST now starting the transition from RV to your new rental house, but I ALSO KNOW that LoLo’s 6th birthday is coming up (21 days man!!! – he’s my birthday buddy) and would definitely make a great birthday present for him.
Either way, we absolutely LOVE our nugget and I would love a second, eventually, but for now, I would DEFINITELY recommend them also! We love ours so much <3
LOVE LOVE this feedback!! Thank you! I think we are def. going to have to get more than one Nugget- at least one for upstairs and one for downstairs.
